Types of Pilot Positions

 

Aeromedical Pilot

An aeromedical pilot works for organizations that provide air medical assistance services. They fly in and out emergency patients to hospitals and also carry out rescue operations. Medical or rescue training experience will be an added advantage for career advancement in this sector.

 

Agricultural Pilot

These highly trained and licenced pilots work for agricultural organizations that undertake aerial category assignments for field maintenance. They fly at low altitudes and spray fertilizers and other chemicals on a vast agricultural land area. You may be required to hold a Chemical Distribution Licence and a Commercial Pilot Licence with an agricultural pilot rating of I or II.

 

Airline Pilot

An airline pilot works as co-pilot, pilot or captain, depending upon his/her experience and type of endorsements.

 

Commercial Pilot

A commercial pilot works as a co-pilot for airline companies, flying large commercial airplanes. Since CPL allows them to command a single pilot aircraft, they can also fly charter flights with charter companies, serve as an instructor pilot in flying schools and can undertake aerial work such as surveys, coastal surveillance, aeromedical, and aerial photography.

 

Military Pilot

They work for the government operating under various tough and risky conditions providing support services including participation in direct combat.

 

Helicopter Pilot

They involve in companies providing aerial work services such as emergency rescue, medical evacuation, construction, offshore mining, deep forest logging and test flights.

 

Flying Instructor

A flying instructor teaches PPL and CPL modules for student pilots in flying schools.
