Career Progression

Becoming a LAME is the beginning of your long career path that demands you to be more focused in your training programs. The career opportunities are tremendous for an engineer with licence. The EASA Part-66 Licence qualifies its holders to be selected for further aircraft-type training on Boeing 747-400, Airbus 320 series and so on. Aircraft-type endorsement on your licence permits you to sign off aircraft for flight. You can gain employment across the world with manufacturing companies, commercial airlines, air-taxi operators, flying schools, and armed forces.

After graduation from a recognized training school, your career may start as an aircraft maintenance technician or trainee aircraft maintenance engineer, in an airline, MRO or component manufacturing company.

Aircraft Engineers and Aircraft Technicians work on a permanent basis as an employee of an airline or MRO. As an engineer, you will earn decent wages and company benefits with an average salary ranging from $40,000 - $100,000 per annum. Wages will vary according to your level of skill, experience, employer and the country you are employed.

Many are employed on a contract basis, working for themselves via recruitment agencies. When you working on contract basis you tend to earn more money, but lose out on company benefits.
