Flight instruments provide vital flight information for the pilot in the cockpit, such as altitude, speed and direction. A well-trained pilot can navigate an aircraft using only the instruments even at poor visible conditions.

There are basic six primary instruments that can provide airplane’s motion and orientation with respect to the ground.

The following three instruments work by measuring air pressure

• Altimeter,
• Airspeed indicator, and
• Vertical speed indicator

and the following three work by using gyroscopic principles.

• Heading indicator,
• Attitude indicator, and
• Turn coordinator

However in latest glass cockpit concept the engines parameters, aircraft parameters, weather conditions, and many more information are displayed by “electronic flight instrument system”
