Impact-Extrusion

Usually, this process is a cold-forming operation, which is suitable to very soft and malleable materials (e.g. aluminium). The shaped component is formed by forcing a punch onto a ‘blank’ of material within a shallow recess. The extruded shape results from the metal being forced to escape through the small gap between the punch and the recess.
